Essential energy for your horse. ESSENTIAL is the foundation of our assortment. It supports performance and enhances well-being, health and harmony. Your horse will be keen to work, have more endurance, and recover faster. The main ingredient of ESSENTIAL is Swedish-grown, traceable rapeseed. The rapeseed oil undergoes a scientifically developed process that corresponds with natural digestion. The result is a concentrated source of energy in a water-soluble powder form. The final product allows your horse to immediately and fully benefit from the energy that originated in the oil.
The energy becomes more accessible for the horse’s metabolism when it is in water-soluble form, which in turn results in a minimal impact on the sensitive digestion system and intestinal functioning. This also results in a smaller load for the liver and kidneys.
EquiCur ESSENTIAL from EquVici Int AB is used frequently by riders, trainers, breeders and veterinarians as an effective yet gentle alternative or complement to other sources of energy. It has also been shown to work very well for senior horses. The results we have seen when using the product are flourishing horses with supple muscles, rapid recovery from disease or work and a soft, glossy coat.

This is ESSENTIAL
Most prominent researchers and veterinarians agree that fat is the most efficient and energy-rich, yet still gentle source of energy you can give your horse. A kilo of oil contains approximately 37MJ, as compared with oats, for example, which contain approximately 10MJ/kilo. For many years, there has been a lot of talk in the horse industry about the use of high-fat/low-starch & sugar diets for horses.
High-quality roughage must always comprise the base of the diet. Research conducted at the Kentucky Equine Research Center indicates that horses fed a high-fat diet react less to pressure (a high-fat diet produces softer, suppler, more durable musculature) and to loud sounds and sudden visual stimuli than horses fed a traditional carbohydrate/starchy diet. This conclusion demonstrates that an increased intake of fat and reduced intake of carbohydrates (such as starch from grain) can make a huge difference in how horses behave in situations that could potentially cause nervous reactions.
Because horses do not have a gall bladder, a problem with oil in its original form is that horses cannot break down and benefit from its abundance of energy. Rather, they can only break down small amounts of oil at a time without disturbing normal intestinal functioning.
ESSENTIAL consists of pure energy derived from Swedish-grown rapeseed. The rapeseed oil has undergone a scientifically developed natural process that corresponds with natural digestion. The result is a concentrated source of free fatty acids in water-soluble form, consisting of only pure, mild energy. What was fat from rapeseed oil before undergoing processing becomes pure energy in powder form afterwards, entirely free from chemical additives and unnatural substances. As a result, your horse can immediately leverage 100% of the energy for all functions in the body that need energy to work and perform – hence the name – ESSENTIAL.
– Extra energy without “heat” tension and anxiety
– Noticeably higher lactic-acid threshold.
– Better endurance & rapid recovery from lactic acid building exercise.
– Excellent source of energy for horses in the danger zone for tying-up syndrome
– Exceptionally high caloric value.
– Less stress on the digestive system.
– Significant benefits for seniors and sensitive horses.
– Does not conflict with current FEI rules.
– Free from palm oil, starch, sugar and GMOs, guaranteed.
Here’s how it works
Fat contains more than twice as much energy as carbohydrates and protein, which makes it the safest choice when you want to increase energy in your horse’s diet. Starch can easily have a very negative effect on the pH-value of your horse’s intestines when given in large volumes – resulting in colic, peptic ulcers, laminitis and more. Tying-up can also be caused by a starchy diet. The increased quantity of energy from fat/fatty acids in the diet provides a good opportunity to replace or supplement cereal feed, because fat meets your horse’s daily energy requirements very well.
Research carried out at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), among other places, has demonstrated that energy from fat often produces better results for weight gain, maintaining weight, and increasing energy and endurance, but with considerably less risk to the health of the horse.
The energy from ESSENTIAL is more accessible to your horse’s metabolism in water-soluble form, which makes it possible to digest the product easily and immediately, without disturbing intestinal functioning or causing increased stress on the liver or kidneys, and to transport energy directly to muscles. When your horse gets energy in the form of ESSENTIAL, its endurance improves. The threshold for lactic acid goes up and the risk of tying-up is essentially eliminated.
These effects are advantages, among many others, that improve your horse’s well-being and promote good health. By adding easily accessed energy from fat to your horse’s diet, and reducing the intake of starch and sugars, its behaviour can be stabilised because it no longer has “hot periods” or becomes excited due to food. You can thereby improve your horse’s energy level and behaviour in a positive and harmonious way.
